The real causes are the explosive birthrates in the Brazilian "Carioca-type" popullation and the real immoral damage being done is to the native forest people by the encroaching and irresponsible wave of Brazilians, as a by-product of European so called Christian Civilization, totally insensitive and arrogant to the aboriginal way of life and culture!

David, you just described the human race since the dawn of time . Nothing new there, what is new is the speed of development that is taking this blue planet to an enviromental dissaster, if things don't chage, that is why I posted both links, the frirst one because Cotange place it very well, the leather industry can't be " an scape goat " as Greenpeace put it and the second about the Cap & Trade, which is a " lights and mirrors "  plan. The  only solution is that is everyone, at the personal and business level, take its own responsabilitity  to do something in the personal behaivor and real green technological changes.

Pointing fingers or getting into historical or hypothetical stances is not going to solve problems.

May not be fair, but they knew how to get the attention they wanted.  Hit the high priced marketing machines right in the billfold and they will pay attention.

If the world were fair, we wouldn't even be talking about high priced, over the top "tennis shoes" in the same breath with real issues.
